An Evening in Victoria, British Columbia

The last port of call on our Alaskan cruise was Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This medium sized port city has a population of 80,000 making it ideal for travel offerings. We arrived at 5:00 P.M. and were scheduled to depart at 11:00 P.M. We had beautiful weather and a strong U.S. dollar so we were ready to shop!

The city of Victoria is located away from the cruise ship port.  You can take a shuttle bus, taxi, or car service into town, all of which cost money.  Instead we decided to walk off all the food we had been eating on the cruise ship and chose to walk into town.  We took a different path going into town than we took coming back to the cruise ship.  Both paths were safe and we enjoyed walking through the beautiful neighborhoods. It was a an easy 25 minute walk into town from the port. Just ask the port employees what the best path to take into town is when you arrive. Everyone at the port was super friendly.

Here are some of the beautiful sights we encountered on our journey to and from the cruise ship. We did a little shopping and enjoyed an evening snack since one U.S. dollar could purchase $1.30 worth of merchandise due to the exchange rate.

After doing some shopping we headed back to the cruise ship around sunset (8:30 PM). There is a lighthouse at the port we spent time exploring before the sunset on a beautiful day.

After a beautiful evening in a beautiful city, we headed back to the cruise ship painfully aware our trip would end the next morning.  A lifetime of memories were made on our Alaskan cruise.  I hope my blog helps you plan your next memorable getaway.

Wherever your travels take you, may God bless you each journey you take.
